It began with a simple belief: photographs deserve more than a brief life in the camera roll. They deserve a wall, a shelf, a conversation, and time.

I’m Tom Kluyver, a London-based analogue film photographer and the person behind Film Reasons. Grain & Paper is the physical extension of my photographic practice and a way to move images from the screen into the spaces where they can be held, lived with, and returned to. Film and its grain is meant to be experience physically.

Each month, I select one photograph from the Film Reasons archive, print it on archival fine-art paper, and send it as an object to keep.
